Coupé décalé
Coupé Décalé is a type of popular dance music originating from Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and the Ivorian diaspora in Paris, France. Drawing heavily from Zouglou and Congolese rhythms, Coupé-Décalé is a very percussive style featuring African samples, deep bass, and repetitive, minimalist arrangements. When I saw this video for the first time it immediately reminded me of a mix of Dancehall dances and Tecktonik. Check out this video of these Congolese youth killing this dance. Enjoy!
Thank You Melly Mel for putting me on to this.

I am looking for examples of coupé décalé dance for a presentation I’m doing for college students in Virginia. This page says “video not available”. Is there someplace else I could view it? Any help much appreciated. Thanks! - Jennifer

Awesome…I can’t wait to share this with people on our campus. I only wish I could learn from an expert before trying to teach some moves to our students. Thanks for posting! C’est génial, le coupé décalé!
