Thi Chien + Addiction = Dynamic Art

“I want to motivate people to ask themselves why… Why is it that the simplest things we place little to no value on, is something someone else looks at as a luxury item?” – Thi Chien, My Slated Vison

In fear of becoming a social network junkie, I spend as much time as possible, doing something other than being online. Nah, the connection in Honduras is inconsistent. ::Laughs:: But seriously, the Internet can be a gift and a curse. I’m excited today- the Internet was my friend! After writing on the Facebook wall of an industry “friend,” I received a friend request from photographer, Thi Chien. Come to find out, he’s “friends” with CDT Art Collective’s Fly Lady Di- the dopest visual artist to ever be in The Daily Bread section of Format Magazine. I knew he had to be dope. AHLOT was right. As a matter of fact, I’m a fan. With an extended resume, an impressive work ethic and the ability to capture reality, my latest amigo presents: Addiction.

“ADDICTION: a state of physiological or psychological dependence on something… For educational and pleasurable reading, I wish to create a book series titled ADDICTION. Within the series, there will be an in depth view on power, money, sex, and drugs… This drive of trying to educate people on this topic comes from seeing too many people fall down the wrong path. I believe that knowledge is the key to prevention… After release of the series I would ambitiously donate the proceedings to Action on Addiction. Action on Addiction is a charity which provides education, intervention, and research on addictions.”

Philadelphia native, Thi Chien’s project “Addiction” is up for voting in the “Name Your Dreams” Contest. Vote for our new friend, Thi Chien, by clicking HERE.
