The DEVIL Wears Prada- But That Doesn’t Mean He’s White.
“Evil deeds have to do with tarnished trains of thought, unbalanced environments and the historical complexities that fall on generations of people. We ALL have a choice. Racism is wack.” -AHLOT
OK, so you caught me- maybe I did receive the newsflash prior to Malcolm’s departure from the U.S., but luckily I never digested the notion that “ALL white people are the Devil.” God bless and blissfully, I manifested the memo that Malcolm brought back upon his arrival from Mecca. I am a firm believer in the concept that ALL people do bad things. I am also aware of the thriving discrimination, greed and disparity between black and white people that lingers throughout the Universe. In the United States, it seems that both black and white people are unaware of the “whys’, who’s, what’s or where’s” of history, and their selfish and egoistical thinking patterns have them thinking in circles.

Pardon me… I could be unaware, but as a part-time joke, it’s hard for me to apply the universal concept of white people naturally being bad. I can’t and I won’t deny the huge faults and wrong doings of humanity and the Anglo- Saxon participation associated with it (i.e. Hilter, KKK, Willie Lynch, Dick Cheney, the silly people at the NY Post, etc.) and at the same time, I’m still have white people to whom I love and adore. I’m sure all of us have a friend, neighbor, co-worker and/or family member of a different race or ethnicity. Even I, the “Pro-Black, super deep, social sista” have white friends.
::Pauses:: This discussion is going to be hard to unravel, yet I think its a discussion that we have to address as people.
This seems strange, but let’s open up a discussion about race relations and the idea of good and evil.

Back in the day, there were t-shirts that read: “I have a Black friend” or “My best friend’s White”… and they were funny. It poked fun at people who tried to confirm their absence of racism, by listing their friends of the opposite race.
I proclaim that “Jason Mraz is on my side” and Joanna, Adam, Jeremy, Andrew and the other Adam are absolutely GOOD people. At the end of the hour and at the end of each day, I listen to John Mayer, bang out to Fiona Apple and I am deeply in love with, “Viva La Vida” and I proclaim it as the record of the year. Some of my closest friends are white, some of my favorite moments in life have been shared with white people and a lot of my friends are bi-racial or are in interracial relationships. I can’t front on ALL of white people. I can’t… and you no longer have to place D’EVILS on the color of a person’s skin, nor use it as a defense mechanism.

I will say this: Black isn’t evil, unhappy, sad, miserable, gloomy, cheerless or any other word that the Oxford Dictionary placed as a synonym. The world is too small to place everybody in a box. There’s just not enough room.
Is the white man the Devil? Absolutely not. Am I wrong? Probably not today.
Learn to Love,
A.H.L.O.T.

thanks for sharing, i feel that it’s time for us to start healing. We must takin history in consideration , at the same time reallize that though we “black people” are the one who feel the greatest affects of racisim in the world, that our white counterparts, are the victims of the racist infliction by a evil system of control aswell, read a people history of the untied state, howard zinn if you need reference. @ one point in this country, all the slaves and servant white and black shared our oppression, we were in the suffering game together, intermarried worked along side one another, and then those in control, decided they needed abit more dissension in order to maintain control and better reach their greedy objective. So they began pitting the different races of the oppressed against each other, and our brand of american racism was born.. people with low esteem quickly subscribed to the idea that even though they were servants they were better than those black slaves.. any way.. its time to reprogram, I think the new BARACK reality will help to influence change. we’re all in this together… SHOUT OUT TO , Chris Sealey, Herb Rosenfeld, Gabe Hindin, Laura Vural, Howard Zinn, Joseph Campbell, Azriel … some of my favorite white people..lol , being black in america its ok to list my favorite white people..lol.. peace

Indeed. Discrimination is just ridiculous. And this includes class and sexual orientation too. The great thing about this country is that some of the richest people in the U.S. have some very humble backgrounds. So to assume that someone who is “lower class” does not have ideas that can add on to the culture is short sighted. In addition…Black people need to get past the homophobia… the idea that someone can tell you how to live, how to think, who to associate with, and if they disagree then tell you that you are not worthy of life and consideration should be a reminder of what our people were subjected to for hundreds of years.
It’s time to be a nation of adults. Not children looking towards our parents (government, religion, socially accepted codes of conduct) to tell us how to think, act, or vote.
peace

Peace. Good read. I understand that people devise adversaries, or in this case Devils for themselves, in terms of their own fears and insecurities. In any form of racism, we exploit the short comings or stereotypes of the other by color of their skin. Its very important to understand and recognize how we are alike – all one. Rather than, how we are different. The devil is mental. Once he is removed from the mind, he no longer exist.

i think that discrimination should be no more because we should all be treated equally cared for equally loved equally and should not care if our friends are black or white.
